Workforce Empowerment and Development

Develop Africa is committed to addressing the challenges faced by young people in Sierra Leone by providing vital vocational training and workforce empowerment initiatives. Through our projects, we aim to equip individuals with the skills and resources needed to break the cycle of poverty and build sustainable livelihoods. Here's how our programs make a difference:Vocational Student

Workforce Empowerment and Development: Our vocational training programs offer focused skill training in areas such as computer literacy, sewing, cosmetology, soap-making, and entrepreneurial management. By providing marketable skills, we empower disadvantaged youths and young adults to transition from poverty and unemployment to self-sufficiency.

Addressing Skills Deficits: Many youths in Sierra Leone lack access to equipped facilities for training in valued trade skills. Through our workforce development experience, we aim to fill this gap by providing training in tailoring, Adult Literacy Education, Sewing / Tailoring, Cooking/Catering, Gara / Tie Dying, Hairstylist & Cosmetology,  and other essential skills. This intervention meets the needs of school dropouts and unemployed youths, offering them the opportunity to learn marketable and relevant skills.

Our vocational training programs have the potential for long-term impact by fostering youth development and self-reliance. By addressing poverty and promoting economic recovery, these initiatives uplift individuals and families, strengthening society as a whole and breaking the cycle of poverty.

Promoting Entrepreneurship: In addition to training, we support participants with tools and resources to support their businesses. Start-up Kits and vital items (such as a sewing machine for a tailor) are provided to young adults and women to support them in starting their small businesses. This promotes entrepreneurship and creates employment opportunities, contributing to economic growth and poverty reduction.

Mentoring- Empowering youth goes beyond providing education, it equips them with the skills and knowledge necessary to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. Mentoring sessions play a pivotal role in this process, allowing boys and girls to develop increased financial, life, and health skills while fostering motivation, confidence, and resilience.  Through mentoring, youth are empowered to grow and become the best versions of themselves, overcoming internal challenges and setting ambitious goals for their future.

Computer Training- Computer proficiency is necessary for success in today's technology-driven society.  This essential training is in great demand, providing a much-needed foundation and equipping them for future success.  Computer classesComputer Training Student include Intro to Computers and Microsoft Office- Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint/Presentation, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Access/Database, and a hardware & networking course.

Many jobs require the use of these programs, so having a solid understanding of them can make the transition to the workforce smoother.
