2025 is Develop Africa’s “Year of the Pencil." This campaign includes a bold initiative to raise awareness about the educational resource gap in Africa and provide tangible support to students. The campaign aims to distribute 100,000 pencils to children in Sierra Leone, symbolizing hope, opportunity, and the power of education.

The centerpiece of this campaign is a record attempt to distribute 100,000 pencils in a single day to students in Sierra Leone. This historic event will showcase the collective power of communities, organizations, and individuals working together to ensure every child has the tools they need to succeed. 

 

Event Details

• Event Name: Year of The Pencil – Most Pencils Distributed in a Day.

• We hope to get this event validated as a Guinness World Record event.  Status: Not yet confirmed
• Date: October, 2025
• Location: Multiple schools in Sierra Leone
• Slogan: Empowering Education, One Pencil at a Time
• Goal: Distribute 100,000 pencils to students in a single day, making history while highlighting the importance of educational resources.
  
  • Pencils will be distributed at 20+ schools in one day, with each child receiving at least 10 pencils.
  • Each school will also receive two laptops to support education
  • School supplies, food items, and other materials may also be provided to schools.
