Radios and Batteries Make Radio Learning a Reality
One of the implications of the Ebola crisis is that all schools and colleges are closed indefinitely. The government is providing an alternative method of learning via radio broadcasts. Instruction is provided to five different levels of pupils –Nursery, classes one to three, classes four to six, Junior Secondary School one to Junior Secondary School three (JSS1-JSS3) and Senior Secondary School one to Senior Secondary School four (SSS1-SSS4). Different subjects according to the syllabus at different academic levels are taught each day.
The expectation of this radio program is that all pupils will have on-going access to a radio to participate in the learning period. This will keep the academic dreams of the children alive, reduce idleness, crime and help to ease stress from the Ebola epidemic.
There are hundreds of families who want their children to benefit from this gesture from the Ministry of Education. Unfortunately, they do not own a radio or are not able to afford the on-going cost of batteries. Providing a radio and batteries for these children will make it possible for them to participate in the learning via radio program each day and progress educationally.
A radio costs $20 and batteries cost $1. Thanks for helping to make their on-going learning possible.
