Q: Why is Develop Africa focusing on the education of girls?  Why is this important?

A: “Because girls are participating in much fewer numbers and for shorter periods, particular attention to girls is essential, not only for the development of the country, but to fulfill the right of every child to education.” “We need to ensure that as many girls as boys attend school …, if we are to achieve universal primary education” - UNICEF.   Donations benefit girls at the all-girls FAWE School in Freetown, Sierra Leone.  "To educate girls is to reduce poverty," says Kofi Annan.
 

Q: Can I make a donation later on or in someone else’s honor (for instance my father on father’s day or my husband etc.)?

A: Yes, all donations are welcome and will receive the appropriate recognition as specified here. 
 

Q: Can I continue to sponsor a girl after this period - for instance every year or for more months?

A: Yes, you can do so and we welcome your involvement.  Simply indicate this when making the donation and we will follow up with you. 

Q: Are donations tax deductible?

A: Yes, all donations (excluding Express Mail option) are tax deductible in USA.  Develop Africa is a 501c3, non-profit organization. 

Q: I would prefer to make a donation benefiting a boy instead.  Can I do this?

A: Yes you can.  Proceed to make your donation and this will benefit a boy.
