Literacy Day Spotlight: Aminata Reads "Colors of the Rainbow"

As we celebrate International Literacy Day on September 8th, let us renew our commitment to fostering a world where everyone can read and get an education.

The FAWE school is committed to ensuring that girls are literate and educated.  The FAWE girls recently read different African storybooks on their computers in the FAWE Computer Lab.

This video shows the teacher having his student, Aminata, read the storybook "Colors of the Rainbow" from the computer.

Teacher: What's your name?

Aminata: My name is Aminata.

Teacher: What's your story?

Aminata: "Colors of a rainbow."

Teacher: Okay. Can you read it for me?

Aminata: A rainbow has seven colors.

Teacher: Excellent.

Aminata: The first color is red.

Teacher: Very good.

Aminata: Kenyu is wearing a red shirt?

Teacher: Good.

Aminata: This is an orange. What else can you see that is the color orange? The third color is yellow. The yoke of an egg is yellow.  The fourth color is green. Our banana garden is green. The fifth color is blue. The sky is blue. The 6th color is indigo. These berries are the color indigo. The seventh color is violet. My dress is violet.

Teacher: Aminata, you can read very well.

Generous support continues to impact girls' literacy and education for girls like Aminata. Every dollar donated makes an impact on girls' education.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
