Helping Organizations One Computer at a Time

How a visitor to our website sent his computer to Africa....

Individuals, schools, colleges and organizations in Africa have not been able to keep pace with progress in technology.  In many instances, Africa has not kept pace and is lagging behind in terms of the availability and use of computers / technology.   Develop Africa believes that technology has its place as an enabler in many spheres.

Computer in Use

Kaius, a visitor to our website from Finland, contacted the Develop Africa team offering to donate and ship his computer to Africa.  This was in line our vision of facilitating the provision of technology to Africa.  Here is an excerpt from his initial email:

Hello,
I approach you from Helsinki, Finland. I bought a new computer and started feeling guilty because of the war in Congo that is nourished by us technology greedy western people (a substance needed for micro chips is achieved from there I believe).
This is why I would like to donate my PC especially to a school in Congo. If it means one less child soldier it makes me happier.

Is this possible? I might be able to pay for the shipping and have it delivered straight to Africa/Congo where your cooperation is needed to get it to the right place. If this is not possible what do you suggest?  Are there any other organization which might help me realize this idea?

Thank you kindly for being there,

Kaius

The team at Develop Africa facilitated the donation of this computer directly to one of our partner organizations - CAPEC in Cameroon.  Kaius shipped the computer directly from Finland to Cameroon.  The pictures on this page show the computer at use in Cameroon.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
