Flood Affected Siblings Get Extra Educational Support

Your on-going support is greatly appreciated and continues to bring hope and normalcy to flood victims in Freetown.   Many families in Sierra Leone were displaced due to the flooding and mudslide disaster that took place in August of 2017, including the Dumbuya family who lost everything in the flood.

Thanks to your ongoing support, the Dumbuya siblings have received tutoring after school to help them thrive at school this year.  The tutor has been impressed with the progress of the siblings and it is showing at school.  According to Yealie’s class teacher, her performance in the first term test was good,  Alfred is doing extremely well,  Alusine is also showing signs of improvement in his grades, and Abdul is working to improve his grades.   The siblings also received all the textbooks needed for school and additionally, each received two uniforms and two pairs of shoes in order for them to be properly and neatly dressed when going to school.    Thank you again for helping to bring hope and restore normalcy to this family’s life.

While recovery will continue to be a long-term process, ongoing support from generous donors like you will help more families, like the Dumbuya family, that were affected by the flood and mudslide disaster.  We encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation here.  Even a few dollars a month will go a long way.  Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
