"End Malaria For Good"
Yesterday, April 25th was World Malaria day. This year's theme is "End Malaria For Good". Deaths caused by malaria are declining, lives are being saved and people are living longer. Families are also able to avoid spending meager resources on malaria medication and hospitalization. Your generosity has helped us distribute hundreds of bed nets to families in need.
Statistics state-
Smart investments and strong partnerships have resulted in dramatic progress against malaria in the past 15 years.
- The malaria fight is one of the most inspiring global health stories of our time. Working together, endemic countries, donors, organizations, and communities have reached millions of people with effective tools, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Malaria mortality has decreased by 60 percent, with 6.2 million lives saved since 2000. Malaria is no longer the leading cause of death of African children.
- Between 2000 and 2015, 57 countries reduced malaria cases by at least 75 percent.2 Now, leaders in Africa, Asia and the Americas have committed to eliminating malaria transmission altogether.

The long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets provide an effective barrier and protection from mosquito bites. This significantly lowers the risk of getting malaria.

Your Support is Helping Prevent Malaria
In February, 200 bed nets were distributed to family heads and other inhabitants in Tombo. It is the largest fishing community in Sierra Leone, with a population over 14,000 people. It is also the largest slum in Sierra Leone. The main source of income is fishing. Tombo has a lot of swamps making the community susceptible to a large mosquito population and high incidents of malaria.
The Councillor of Ward 340 in Tombo Amos G Kalloh said, "I am so appreciative of this good gesture for it will help protect my community people from malaria." Read more...
