Through the generous support of donors, Develop Africa has been instrumental in providing critical resources and opportunities to empower women in Sierra Leone. One such individual whose life has been positively impacted is Salamatu, a single-parent mother and proud beneficiary of Develop Africa's programs. Salamatu's journey is a testament to the power of education and support in empowering women to overcome barriers and pursue their dreams.
In her own words, Salamatu expresses her gratitude to Develop Africa in this video for the invaluable assistance she has received, including computer training, vocational training, and mentorship.
"Hello, my name is Salamatu, a proud beneficiary of Develop Africa. I want to say a big thank you to Develop Africa for all that they have been doing for me. I’m a single parent, mother, and I was having some challenges continuing my education but through their help, advice, mentoring, and sponsorship I am happy with where I am today. I am now in the Institute of Public Administration (IPAM) reading public Sector, and I love what I’m doing.
To all women out there who think that they should drop out of school or give up in whatever they doing because they are a single parent, my advice is you should try develop yourself, and try to put yourself together. And say no to any men’s violence, and say no to any self-poverty and you need to motivate yourself. I want to say thank you to all women who've developed themselves and I say Bravo to Develop Africa and all the donors."
Salamatu's story highlights the importance of providing support and opportunities for women to develop themselves and break free from the cycle of poverty and violence. Her message of resilience and empowerment serves as an inspiration to women everywhere, encouraging them to stand firm, reject violence, and strive for self-improvement.
