In the wake of the sweeping ebola virus of 2014 in Africa ten thousand innocent children have lost either one or both parents. These survivors of this deadly pandemic are left to live in confusion and uncertainty. Stigmatized by the fear that they can infect others, they’re left isolated, with no relatives or surviving adults to care for them. Psychologically damaged and without food or care these little ones are facing a dark future.

Caring individuals see the problem as so immense that they have no power to help. It may seem overwhelming, but, as US President John F. Kennedy once said, “It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.”

People viewing the situation from distant geographic locations may have limited resources themselves. However, small donations do add up to contribute to rescue efforts.

The children fortunate enough to be living in the Dream Home built for them by Develop Africa would thank each person who sent a donation in any amount. It’s the combination of all donations that built their secure refuge. These donations provide shelter, good food and loving caretakers to cushion them from a frightening existence.

When the children in Dream Home go to sleep at night, they know there will be breakfast in the morning. They are truly blessed while thousands are still adrift in a dark world. The Dream Home children know a smile and a loving hand. Their basic needs are being met. Unlike their thousands of unfortunate counterparts - they have hope.

Whether your candle is as small as one from atop a birthday cake, or a large pillar from a holiday display, it matters.  Every donation makes a difference. Don’t stand helplessly in the darkness thinking your small gift is insignificant. Light your candle. Join with other caring souls to help brighten the future of a small child who may die without your help.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
