Develop Africa - recently confirmed as a black-led and Black-benefitting organization
Did you know that Develop Africa is a black-led and Black-benefitting organization?
GivingGap.org and https://backblackmovement.org/ recently officially confirmed this.
Develop Africa is included in the Black-led directory list at the following link: https://www.nfggive.org/live/black-philanthropy-month-backblack.
Black-founded nonprofits are powerful advocates for racial equality and justice, deeply rooted in the experiences of Black communities. However, only a tiny percentage of the $450 billion Americans donate yearly goes to Black organizations.
Giving Gap is dedicated to empowering donors and funders to discover and support Black-founded nonprofits by connecting them with causes they care about. One of their goals is to ensure that Black nonprofits receive the recognition, resources, and opportunities they need to create a brighter future for everyone.
To be eligible for the Giving Gap platform, an organization must be
- An incorporated or fiscally-sponsored 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in good standing with the IRS;
- Based in the United States;
- Founded by a person or the majority of a collective of founders who identify as Black;
- Have a mission that mobilizes positive action for Black people and communities, and
- Have an active website with a URL link for donations.
