Develop Africa Newsletter - Sept 3, 2015

The new school year causes excitement about seeing friends and maybe a little bit of nerves with new classes and new teachers, but what it should not cause is concern about whether or not the student has a uniform to wear to school.

Please help us provide every child with a uniform and shoes!

These four children are smiling because they just received the uniforms that they need, help us put a smile on more children's faces.

A $40 Donation covers two uniforms and a pair of shoes.  (Put in comments for Uniforms)

"Giving a uniform reduces school absenteeism by 6.4 percentage points (43 percent) from a base of 15 percent school absenteeism. The effect is 3.4 percentage points larger for students who did not have a uniform at the baseline. This is a major reduction in absenteeism from a baseline school attendance level of 85 percent."

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
