Creating a world of intergenerational solidarity

August 12th was International Youth Day. As we observed International Youth Day, Develop Africa reaffirmed its commitment to youth development and empowerment. We lend our voice, support, and commitment to creating a world of intergenerational solidarity among all ages. We agree that the potential of the youth that can be harnessed from continuous collaborations across generations.  In Sierra Leone, Develop Africa focuses on the development of youth to empower them to become future leaders, which is only made possible by generous donors.

In this video, the Develop Africa team in Sierra Leone (DASL) talks about how Develop Africa works to create intergenerational solidarity.

DASL Board member, Solade, says, "To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the world needs to leverage the full potential of all generations. Therefore, solidarity across generations is critical for sustainable development.

In Sierra Leone, Develop Africa (DA) is mainly focused on providing educational capacity to less privileged families; across generations. DA collaborates to foster prosperous and equitable intergenerational relations and partnerships to ensure “no one is left behind"

DA supports vulnerable children and youths aged six years and above from poor backgrounds- from essential primary to university or technical and vocational. We have ensured children are provided with the required school supplies and created the enabling environment that would equip them to gain the best investment and foundation education they can give an individual. As a result, these beneficiaries stand a chance to conquer their limitations and become successful in life.

Additionally DA ensures that the homes of beneficiaries are child-friendly by providing lunch and transportation for the children and youths through the microfinance support given to the homes Furthermore, Develop Africa efforts continue to put in place structures to support the promotion of intergenerational relations and partnerships."

Your generous support is greatly appreciated and is truly makes a difference for youths and young adults in Sierra Leone. If you haven't had the chance to sign up for a recurring donation yet, we warmly welcome your ongoing support.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.
