Creating Opportunities For Girls & Ladies

In this newsletter we share 2 featured stories: Fatu's story and an impact update on DA's Tailoring Institute.

Fatu's Story - Back in School

Fatu was out of school because her parents could not afford to cover her school-related expenses. Her father lost his job and her mother is a housewife.

Thankfully, now with the support and sponsorship provided by J.C. (a sponsor) and Develop Africa, Fatu is enrolled in school, well-dressed and doing well.  She wants to be a banker when she grows up.

Super Heroes: Our sponsors and monthly donors are super-special. Because of your continued support Fatu, and other girls like her , are able to pursue their educational goals.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to be helping them to create for a brighter future.  That is  a great reason to rejoice and smile as you can see from Fatu's photo below

The Story of the Ladies at the Tailoring Institute

Your regular support is also helping to provide vocational training to young ladies / school drop outs.  This is giving them the much-needed opportunity to better their future.

Alusine, is one of the Instructors at Develop Africa's Empowerment and Training Institute.  In the video below, Alusine tells us about the impact of the Institute and says "Thank You" for your support:

I want to say thanks to Develop Africa for providing these machines to help us with our jobs. We have been able to bring together a number of drop outs from the community and encouraged them to practice tailoring in order to avoid teenage pregnancy because most of them are girls.

As the instructor, I am very proud of them. They now sew clothes for their mothers and for little children. They are very happy.

The only major problem is that- there are lots of girls out there who want to join but we don't have enough machines for everyone.

We would really appreciate if you can help us with that. There are lots of lots of girls who want to join but there are not enough machines for everyone. It is very difficult. Now that we have electricity, we would really like to have a machine that designs the clothes."

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
