Why Sponsor: A Heartfelt Testimonial from a Develop African Child Sponsor

A certain kind of love exists in the hearts of people who genuinely care about the lives of others. Some people have hope and believe that one person CAN make a difference, and many people working together can make a much more significant difference. A certain kind of peace warms the heart, knowing that someone's LIFE has been changed simply because you care...for giving up such little things in their lives to sponsor a child.

What is $30 to a family in the United States? A trip to the movies. Dinner at a chain restaurant. 1/10 of the cost of the newest gaming system. A weekly stop at Starbucks for a $6 cup of coffee.

What could $30 do in Africa? Buy school uniforms for children who can attend school because the buildings were finally built for them—food for a family who can make it last a month instead of one meal.

In addition to material things, $30 can buy hope. Hope for a brighter future. Hope for education. Hope for a life with less worry in the back of their minds. Hope for change. Hope for their families. Hope for their community. Hope inside their hearts.

To me, the knowledge that I am helping to give hope to someone who truly appreciates it and makes an impact in their daily life is worth giving up that trip to the movies, that dinner out, and that weekly coffee treat. We take for granted so much every day in the United States. Some children in Africa and other parts of the world aren't begging their parents for the latest and greatest toy. They wait for food without begging, knowing that their parents are doing all they can for them. They appreciate a roof over their heads and enough to eat, even if only once a day. And I can guarantee they aren't arguing about eating their vegetables with their parents.  :)

My first letter from Rosaline was precious. I'm looking forward to getting to know and developing a relationship with her. She is one of MANY children who has a grasp of appreciation for what she has, much more so than adults in the United States. The pictures I have received of her and her father and twin sister are priceless. Her smile has captured my heart.

If you would like to feel the joy that I have felt in sponsoring Rosaline, please consider discussing child sponsorship with the wonderful people at Develop Africa. You CAN make a difference. Give hope to a child. Hope is priceless, and so is the peace you will feel in becoming a part of the sponsorship and this organization.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
