Mosquito Nets Help Keep Girls in School

As we celebrate World Malaria Day on April 25th, it's important to acknowledge the significant impact of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) in preventing malaria.

ITNs aka mosquito nets serve as a vital tool in malaria prevention by creating a physical barrier between mosquitoes and individuals, thereby reducing the risk of infection.

Joseph Can Sleep Mosquito Free

Your continued support is helping provide long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) also called bed nets or mosquito nets to families and individuals in Sierra Leone. These mosquito nets create an effective barrier and provide protection from mosquito bites while families sleep.  Because of the mosquito nets they received, children like Joseph can now sleep without worrying about mosquito bites at night.

Joseph is in class 4 and enjoys mathematics and playing football.  He wants to become a doctor when he grows up.

Tengbeh Town Families Thankful for Bed Nets

Bed nets were recently distributed to families in Tengbeh Town in Sierra Leone thanks in part to your support. All of the families that received a bed net were very thankful for the bed net. Alice expressed her gratitude saying

My name is Alice, I want to say thank you to Develop Africa for providing us with these mosquito tents. Also, these mosquito tents will help us greatly by protecting us from mosquito bites because our environment has many mosquitoes. Thank you.

No Mosquito Bites at Night for Agness & her Kids

Your continued support is greatly appreciated and is helping provide long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) also called bed nets or mosquito nets to families and individuals in Sierra Leone. These mosquito nets create an effective barrier and provide protection from mosquito bites while families sleep.  Because of the mosquito nets they received, families like Agness's family pictured here can now sleep without worrying about mosquito bites at night.

190 Mosquito Nets Distributed in 2021

In Sierra Leone, research has proven that one in every two children under the age of five admitted into pediatric care is affected by malaria. Mosquito nets create an effective barrier and provide protection from mosquito bites for two years hence preventing Malaria and reducing the burden of Malaria in Sierra Leone.

Girls Protected at Night

One of the challenges girls face in Sierra Leone is the threat of Malaria.  Thanks in part to your ongoing support, mosquito nets treated with insecticide were distributed to young ladies following a recent mentoring meeting.  The young ladies were very thankful for the mosquito nets they received.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated in providing long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) to families and individuals in Freetown.  Because of the bed nets they received, students like Isata can now focus on her education and futures and not on malaria.

Isata expresses her gratitude for her new bed net in this video saying -

Thank you for this mosquito net.  This mosquito net will protect me from mosquito bites.

World Malaria Day- "Zero malaria starts with me"

World Malaria Day is April 25 and this year's theme is "Zero malaria starts with me.” Our goal is to make sure every individual and family in Freetown has a bed net to prevent malaria.  Long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) are an effective ongoing source of protection to prevent Malaria by protecting families while they sleep at night. We are so thankful for your support that provides these long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets (ITNs) to families and individuals, like Alfred & Bintu, in Freetown.
