Boys Mentoring Session Covered Basic Tailoring Skills

Youth unemployment remains a challenge globally.  According to the International Labor Organization, the youth unemployment rate in Africa remains below the world average estimation in 2022.  Young people in Sierra Leone have faced the consequences of recent setbacks to the global economy.  It is in that regard that the Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) team organized a boys' mentoring session on tailoring, thanks in part to your support.

The goal of the tailoring training was to train the mentees in basic tailoring skills.  Eighteen boys attended the training and each of the boys cut and stitched male shirts and trousers. The mentees enjoyed learning about tailoring. Several of the boys stated that they were interested in the training because they would like to be able to stitch some of their clothing at home. The mentees also received food and drinks at the end of the mentoring session and transportation.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated as it will enable more mentoring sessions and educational resources for the future leaders of Sierra Leone.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
