Microfinance Impact Summary - JMA Solutions

On behalf of the microfinance beneficiaries, we would like to say a big “Thank You” to JMA Solutions for the microfinance funds provided to women in Sierra Leone. You gift brought light when their lives and livelihood were under serious threat by the deadly Ebola Virus.  We are deeply grateful for your support.  Thank you very much!

Develop Africa and Door of Hope organized a business training workshop prior to the distribution of the funds.  The training covered business success strategies and tips to help ensure the success of the businesses.  Focus was on ensuring the success of members.

10 beneficiaries were divided into 3 groups.  The purpose of groups was to allocate a reasonable amount of money to facilitate the purchase of larger quantities of the items for retail.

The groups were mutually formed by members who were already acquainted with each other.  This was done so that members would be able to easily work with and be better motivated to assist each other, if necessary to help the group succeed.  This has resulted in better cooperation, cohesion and partnership. The individuals and groups are making great progress.

Here is a listing of the business areas that some of the members are involved in:

  • Dried / smoked fish
  • Groceries like spices, cooking oil, etc.
  • Imported used items
  • Water by bundle
  • Charcoal
  • 2nd hand clothes and assorted items
  • Toys
  • Plastic ware – bowls, buckets etc.

As a result of the funds provided, these ladies, most of who were out of business due to the Ebola crisis, have got a new start. They are moving on ahead and progressing in life. They are now independent.  Thankfully, they can now provide food for their homes.  Their immediate and basic family needs are being met.

Furthermore, because of the progress and success of the businesses so far, many other women are enquiring and have indicated an interest in participating in this program.  We welcome the opportunity to extend this assistance to many other deserving women.

Thanks again for your support.  We deeply appreciate this new boost of life you have released into their individual lives, their families and this community.
