Joy
Future Medical Doctor

Joy has been part of the Develop Africa sponsorship program for the past eleven years. Joy has no siblings and she lost her father at a young age. She lives with her mom in a single room in the Regent community in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

In the Regent Community access to clean water and electricity are a challenge for residents. Most residents of the Regent community are stone miners and petty traders. Joy's mother is a low-income earner, she does door-to-door sales of rubber slippers.

Joy is attending the Methodist Girls High School and she is in her third year at Junior High School (JSS3).  Joy would like to become a Medical Doctor as she loves taking care of sick people.

Joy has had a child sponsor for the past several years whose generosity has helped with her educational needs.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
