News from the Field  -  Follow up Visit to 2008/2009

Promise of Hope Scholarship & School Supplies Recipients (December 2008)

In December 2008, the Director of Development and International Outreaches, Dr. Jasmine Renner paid a follow up visit to the recipients of the Promise of Hope Scholarship and of school supplies in Freetown, Sierra Leone. During her visit she met with recipients of the 2008 scholarship and encouraged them to continue to seek excellence in their pursuit of education. The recipients (children) were overjoyed to see her, sang songs, recited some of the words they had memorized, utilizing the school supplies cards and sent thank you messages to the President, sponsors, donors and staff at Develop Africa.

She also met with several parents and guardians of the current recipients who praised Develop Africa for the continued support the organization was providing through scholarships ensuring that their children continued in school.  The children were elated and inspired. The parents were grateful for the scholarship award.  They expressed their gratitude to sponsors, donors, Mr. K’s Bookstore, A2Z School Supplies Store  and all schools, student groups and organizations that made this possible through financial donations and donations of books, school and teaching supplies.

Together we are changing and impacting lives one at a time.  Below some of the testimonials from the field of actual parents and scholarship recipient who were grateful for the 2008/2009 scholarship award
