Child Sponsorship

Sponsor a Child, Change a Life

Educational Support

The world's future leaders are today's children and youth, and Africa is no exception. Child sponsorship is the best way for you to impact or change a life in Africa and bring hope to the entire community.

Sponsoring a child provides the continuity of impact that is needed - impacting the growth and development of children. The critical area of empowerment that we focus on is education. When you sponsor a child, your funds support your child's education. Providing educational support is a tested and proven way to impact lives by providing the vital knowledge and skills that the child needs to grow up, become independent and self-sufficient, and contribute to their community and national and global development.

In addition, you will be making a personal investment, building a relationship with your beneficiary and their family, and joining a family of "life-givers" worldwide who share your commitment to change the world, one child at a time.

Impact of Your Sponsorship:

  • Access to Education: Child sponsorship provides access to education for children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend school. This can break the cycle of poverty by empowering children with knowledge and skills for the future.

  • Nutrition and Food Security: Our sponsorship program provide occasional food support, such as meals, supplements, non-perishable food or agricultural assistance, helping to combat malnutrition and ensure that children have enough to eat for proper growth and development.

  • Empowerment of Communities: We invest in community development initiatives alongside direct support for children. This includes infrastructure projects, vocational training programs, and initiatives to strengthen local economies, which benefit the entire community.

  • Psychosocial Support: Sponsorship programs frequently offer psychosocial support to children, including counseling, mentoring, and recreational activities, which can help them cope with trauma, build resilience, and develop important life skills.

  • Increased Self-Esteem and Confidence: Knowing that they are supported by a sponsor can boost children's self-esteem and confidence, giving them a sense of belonging and value within their communities.

  • Long-Term Impact: By investing in children's education, health, and well-being, we are contributing to long-term development outcomes, including poverty reduction, improved gender equality, and enhanced economic opportunities for future generations.

  • Cultural Exchange and Understanding: Our program facilitates cultural exchange between sponsors and sponsored children, fostering greater understanding and empathy across geographical and cultural divides.

  • Relationship and Family Connections: Our program helps build a personal relationship with your sponsored child(ren). Many families communicate regularly with their sponsored children.

Can't Sponsor? Donate!

Every dollar donated to a child in need is a cherished gift that brings immense gratitude to the child and their family. If you prefer to donate to a specific child, kindly include the child's name in the form. Let us know whether you'd like us to select a child for you or if you have a preference for a boy or girl to receive the gift.

Your contribution is a beautiful and meaningful gift to a deserving child. There's no limit to one-time donations, so whether you choose to donate to the same child later in the year or another child, your gift will be warmly welcomed.

Why Are Some of The Kids on The Site Youths/College Age?

The child sponsorship program was started in 2009. Some of the original kids have grown up and phased out. Some families need support as their kids go to college. We also have some orphans who are now in college.

We have extended our program to include youths in college until their Bachelor's degree completion. The advantage of sponsoring is that the communication will be more insightful.

Thank You!   Your sponsorship changes the life of a child.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.

Give the Gift of Joy This Holiday Season 🎁

You can light up a child's life in Africa this holiday season. Imagine the joy of a young girl opening her very first book or a boy receiving a backpack filled with school supplies to fuel his dreams. For many children, a holiday gift isn't just a moment of happiness – it’s a message of hope, love, and possibility.

At Develop Africa, we believe every child deserves to feel special, especially during the holidays. But for too many children in underserved communities, the season comes and goes without even a small token of celebration. With your help, we can change that.

A donation of just $25 can provide a meaningful gift – a backpack, school supplies, or even a toy – to a needy child. Your generosity will show them that someone far away cares deeply about their future and happiness.

Make this holiday season unforgettable for a child. Please donate now to our Holiday Gift for a Child campaign and be part of a life-changing moment. Together, we can spread joy, ignite hope, and make the holidays magical for children in Africa.
