Promise of Hope Tuition Scholarship Award, January 2007
Freetown, Sierra Leone: Develop Africa awards 8 (eight) Promise of Hope (Tuition) Scholarships to the youth and children.
In January 2007, Develop Africa awarded 8 (eight) tuition scholarships to deserving youths and children in Sierra Leone. The recipients of the scholarship award are: Marie Mansaray, Momoh Koroma, Mustapha Koroma, Ishmail Gassama, Mayah Kamara, Martha Johnny (from the UMC primary school in George Brook, Freetown) Paul Affiong and Portia Affiong from the (Flaming Preparatory School, Ascension Town). The scholarship award ceremony took place on the school grounds of UMC Primary School in George Brook, Freetown.
The occasion was graced by the parents, friends, teachers and staff of the school and the recipients of the scholarship award. An award ceremony ensued which included a brief key note speech by the President of Develop Africa, Mr. Sylvester Renner, welcome and opening remarks by the Director of Development, Dr. Jasmine Renner and vision / closing remarks by Mrs. Janet Tucker, Coordinator for Develop Africa, Sierra Leone.
The presentation of certificates was conducted by Develop Africa’s Coordinator Sierra Leone, Mrs. Janet Tucker and the Development Director, Dr. Jasmine Renner. The headmistress (Principal) of UMC primary school, Mrs. Nancy Showers in closing, thanked Develop Africa sponsors and donors for bringing hope to recipients and assured Develop Africa that the children would make good use of the scholarship funds. One of the recipients of the tuition scholarship gave a vote of thanks on behalf of all the recipients and assured Develop Africa that they (recipients) would do their best to maintain academic excellence.
