Book Guidelines

Books For Africa | Help Us With This Project

children

These guidelines help ensure that the books we send are what the young people really want and need. The types of books are important. The condition of the books is also important.  This may be the only "library" or book collection that some children / schools will have.

Types of Books

  • Pre-reading material
    'Picture and a word'
  • Easy Readers
  • Large print and Big Books
  • Factual books
  • Reading scheme books
  • Dictionaries
    especially illustrated ones

     Contents

  • Books should be in good condition and attractive.
  • Factual books and stories should be up-to-date, well illustrated, and accurate.
  • Factual books and storybooks should not be so culturally specific that they are inappropriate for African children.
  • Used books are fine, as long as they are in very good condition.
  • The books must be worth shipping thousands of miles.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
